What is User SAP Training ?

SAP User training is the process of formally introducing the user community to the business processes as implemented in SAP along with acclimatizing them to the SAP environment. In general this involves identifying the key stakeholders, documenting the business processes and interactively training them.

Why User Training ?

Many projects fail or face serious hiccups inspite of excellent resources from a technical standpoint and superior project management. While the entire team is racing against time to complete the implementation, they forget to ramp-up the major stakeholder in the entire project — The user community. Users often come from other ERP backgrounds and are often very ignorant of the SAP environment. Often there is subtle resistance as well. Coupled with development and testing issues the users could get frustrated pretty soon often leading to escalations at the PMO office with disastrous consequences for the project.

How we do it ?

At a high level SAP end user training involves the following steps.

Identify the User Community : As easy as it may seem, this process is often overlooked. The processes are sometimes so entrenched in the user’s mind that they might sometimes forget who the stakeholders are across the entire process chain. Often key users turn up at the last moment or are entirely ignorant of the entire excercise and hence get totally dis-engaged from the whole process. Our processes ensure that all the key-stake holders are identified across all major areas and delegate the responsibility accordingly.

Tools : While the actual process of trainig itself is important, documenting the key business process is also as important to ensure that they are available long after the trainers are gone. We use standard industry recognized tools ( like SAPTutor, RWD Infopak ) to document the basic business scenarios for future.

Interactive Training : Each implementation is different. We interact extensively with the SAP implementation team onsite ( and offshore ) to identify all the major business processes and all the end-user transactions including daily, month-end and quarter closing activities and document them using the client licensed toolset. Also by extensively involving the implementation team, we make sure that both the user community and implementation team are fully aware of the various business processes involved in the SAP training excercise.
