  7. Rohit March 11, 2012 at 4:24 am #

    Hello,

I am currently working as SAP ABAP developer in an IT firm. I have 2.5yrs of exp in this field, developing Reports & Module pool. I have done work on Notifications also (iw21,iw22 transactions). From the start i was interested in web related objects that’s why i have shifted myself to Web Dynpro. So as of now, i am developing objects in web dynpro also.

I wanted to see myself as a Functional Consultant in future but what i don’t know is the technology which i am working in is good enough for achieving my goal or not. My interest is in Web technologies. that’s why i want to learn different modules related to web by attending some training sessions.

I have heard very little about CRM,
Is it a good prospect ?
At this point of time, is it ok for me to do a course on CRM ?
Learning a core module first like SD, MM is must ?

Please if you have time guide me through this.

  8. Sankar L February 23, 2012 at 3:34 pm #

am Srikanth. I am looking for a proper guidance in SAP career.

Let me first tell you about myself, I have completed my Masters in Computer Science and have been working on Web Technologies for last 3 years. My skills are Web Technology, Perl, Linux, Postgres, SQL and Data Modelling.

I have decided to get into SAP mainly for it’s rewarding pay and the importance it demands in the business. From my experience I believe that success can be reached by hard work and consistent efforts.

Coming to the point, I see in SAP there are many Functional Modules [ FICO, SD, MM, PP .... ] and Business Intelligence. For Long term vision which one would be rewarding, is it Business Intelligence or Functional Consultant.

    Business Intelligence
It is more technical which attracts a larger crowd eventually decreasing the demand in the future.

    Functional Consultant
Functional consultant takes time/efforts & hence the demand is high which translates to better rewards.

I have a tough time in deciding and require your insight.
Please spare some time if possible.

    • siva February 23, 2012 at 3:45 pm #

      Hi Sankar
Sorry for the delay. Glad you wrote to me. I see that you have done some research and have some basic idea on functional modules technical modules etc. Thats a good starting point.

Now, in general, here is what I advise. Learn one core module – and experiment with a couple of new dimensional modules. I will try and explain this with an example.

Core modules in SAP could be SD, MM, PP, FICO, ABAP, BW, HRetc. By new dimensional modules, I mean, CRM, SRM, APO, SEM, CRM Technical, MSS/ESS etc. In general I am giving some examples of an ideal learning curve.

Learn SD and work for couple years – Move into CRM or other IS versions
Learn MM and work for couple years – Move into SRM or APO
      ….
I guess you get the point now. The same applies on the technical front. For example, learn BW/BI and move into BO,SEM,BCS etc. This way your growth would be steady.

Now, regarding the technical/functional aspect , if you follow the above rule, then there is no difference. For example, in the market there are tons of BW consultants, but there is high demand for SEM or BCS consultants – In fact demand for BCS is even greater than FICO.

However, I advise against jumping directly into these new dimension products, for the simple reason that, they are very sophisticated products which demand a good understanding of the sap environment. Also, some products are good and some are flops – I wouldn’t bet big on them and loose out on the core jobs.

Also, if you are ready to work hard, $10/hr here and there most core modules pay you the same.

  9. mane February 22, 2012 at 7:57 pm #

Is this training for functional consultant or technical consultant or either/both? When does the next session start?

    • siva February 23, 2012 at 1:49 am #

This is Functional ONLY. CRM Technical will be under SAP CRM Technical Training . We just kicked off an SAP CRM Training. The next one will be early next month. Once the schedule is planned, we will open the registration link on the website.

      • mane March 12, 2012 at 3:29 am #

Is there an option for just the material notes and recorded sessions (if any) instead of the real-time classes? It would be nice for the people who missed the class and do not want to wait until the next session. This way you will also be making these classes/notes accessible and affordable to more students.

I was initially looking for an sap training center in a class room setting in Poland. I could not find a cheaper alternative. I was very skeptical in doing sap crm training online. In fact I attended 2 demo classes just to make sure the trainer was good and that I can trust Magna Training. One week into the training and I was comfortable with their processes, the trainer’s puncuality and everything in between.
There were a couple of hiccups in between with the server access, but they extended it for a couple more weeks for free. Good service overall.

  30. Maricella May 16, 2011 at 9:46 am #

The SAP CRM Training from Magna Training was amazing. Really appreciated the effort the trainer has put in explaining the concepts. Above all the processes were professional. I have seen other offbeat training companies that didn’t even have a proper english speaking sales personnel. Right from my initial call to Magna Training until I finished the course and extending my sap access everything was handled in a professional and timely manner.
    Thanks Magna Training !!
