How to find out the menu path to Configure fields in SAP

Many students in SAP Training get confused with how to configure the menu path on how to configure certain fields in SAP. For example, in SAP Sales and Distribution, a field like “Delivery Block” in the SAP Sales Order is available. If a new Delivery block needs to be created, it can be very confusing to find out the exact menu path/transaction code in SAP for newbies.

Luckily, the solution is very easy. There are 2 ways to find out the menu path to a particular configuration.

Solution 1 : Go to spro -> IMG and click on the “Find” button in the system tool bar. It is the button with a binocular icon.

The list of Menu Paths that contain the keyword are displayed.

Double click on the one that you are looking for and it will take you directly to the menu area in spro.

Solution 2 : This is a more precise solution, but is only available in certain scenarios. Where available, use this solution. Hit F1 ( or Help icon on the system toolbar ) while highlighting the field in question.

For example, if you want to find out the customizing menu path for the Customer Group in the Customer Master, then highlight the field and hit on F1.

Select the “Customizing” button as highlighted above. In the ensuing pop-up, click on “Continue without specifying  Project” button.

SAP will automatically highlight the menu path for customizing the particular field.

Exercise :

1. Specify the menu path for how to configure “Material Group” in Basic View 1 of the Material Master

2. Specify the menu path in spro for how to configure “valuation Class” in Accounting view of the material master

3. Specify the menu path in spro for how to configure new “Terms of Payment” in billing view of the SAP Sales Order Header ?
