  22. Suraj January 24, 2012 at 3:53 am #

    HI Siva,

I am a mechanical engineer working as a design engineer for last 6 years. I have experience in new product development. Exposure to softwares like Pro-e, ANSYS etc. I want to change my field and somehow join the software field. Right now the only route seems to be through SAP. Kindly suggest and also suggest me a suitable module which will help me in shifting.

    • siva January 24, 2012 at 6:47 am #

SAP PLM would suit you better. Currently, we are not offering PLM however. Sorry

      • Meghana January 26, 2012 at 7:33 pm #

        Hi Shiva,

I came across your website when I was also looking for an answer for a right career path for me. My situation is very similar to that of Suraj but little more complex that I have career break for almost 6 years. I started my career in Bharat petroleum in India with little exposure as SAP user( Plant maintenance/Project M). Then moved to US and finished masters in Mechanical and worked on softwares like Ansys , IDeas, Abaqus. Then had a break and now I am working on something completly different. Though this wide range of exposure has given me good understanding of manufacturing/process indurstry, I am totally confused as to where to begin rebuilding my career. SAP-PLM came to my mind but I want to know your views on that. ALso, if you are not offering now, do you have any plans to offer it in future. If no, then is there any other module that would be nice for person of my background and your schedule for the same.

        Hope its not too confusing.
        Meghana

        • siva January 30, 2012 at 11:34 am #

          Meghana
We just started PP – But it might be a little too late to join it – May be next batch – I will display the timings on our website 2 weeks before the demo starts. Since you seem to have a good understanding of manufacturing processes , PP is a good choice apart from PLM.

  24. Srinivas January 16, 2012 at 6:06 am #

    Hi Siva !

I have 2.5 yrs of experience in software sales in Bangalore. I had a SAP SD Demo’s at 2 institutes in Bangalore and (i don’t know) i was not impressed with their teachings & stuff.. for the fee they had charged for, I saw the SAP SD DEMO videos in YouTube and i think i could understand it better by the way it was taught. I also understood that it was e-learning/training.
Please give me some details such as do you provide training to candidates staying in Bangalore India, cost of it in Rs (we think $ 850 is expensive in India), course schedule timings etc..

    Thanks !
    have a good day

    • siva January 17, 2012 at 4:49 am #

      Srinivas
The demo videos on youtube are just so that you understand how I teach. This is NOT a e-learning course. It is a full-fledged Live-instructor led online training course with hands-on exercises, demos etc. The price is $850.
I understand the price is expensive for Indian students. However, currently, this course is NOT designed for the indian students. If we start a class room training in India, then the course will be much cheaper ( Around Rs. 12,000 to 15,000 ). This might take a while though.

      Thanks for writing to us.

      • Srinivas January 23, 2012 at 9:57 am #

        Hi Siva

        Thanks for your reply.

        - Do you have any option of providing us only the SAP SD Course/Training materials and a little interview tips/suggesstions (over e-mail/chat..) for Indian students for some nominal price or something ? just incase is there any choice for us to get some assistance or benefited from your training materials/tips ?

        Thanks !

    • siva December 26, 2011 at 9:37 am #

      Hi Robin
Time is right for most modules of SAP right now. ( SD, CRM, FICO, HR .. ) We currently do not assist with placements. Sorry.

      • Robin December 28, 2011 at 5:39 pm #

Yeah thanks for replying to my mail, but wanted to know the scope and growth in SAP SD.

        • magnatrain December 29, 2011 at 5:35 am #

SD is a core module in SAP and almost every implementation would have SD (Since every company SELLS ). Beyond that if I say something, it would look like an advertisement :) . I would leave the rest to your discretion.

  35. Munish December 24, 2011 at 2:56 pm #

Hi Siva, I am a Mechanical Engineer with around 5 years core experience in Sales (Automobile/Oil Industry) and 3 years into Functional Consultant role for Siebel CRM. I now wish to shift full time into consulting. Please suggest whether i should opt for Functional SAP SD or Functional SAP CRM. Since there are very less opportunities for Siebel CRM, i wish to move into SAP. Will it be a better option?

    • siva December 24, 2011 at 3:56 pm #

Either SD or CRM is fine. Depends on what you love to work in the long run. Like I said in many places on our website, don’t think of yourself as a SD consultant or a CRM consultant. Think as a SD/CRM consultant.
Having said that, SAP CRM has more competition in the market whereas SD has not. On the flipside, SD is much older and has more seasoned consultants in the market whereas CRM is pretty new and the market is still not filled with GOOD consultants.

I am looking for a career change. I have done Bachelor of engineering in electronics & Telecommunication. Which SAP module will be best suited for me? I had in mind SAP HR. some of my friends advised me to get into SAP SD or BI/BW . Will it be a good choice with little or no exp. in those modules of SAP.i live in US .do you offer any SAP training on SAP BI/BW ?

Looking forward for you advise. Also let me know the next sap SAP BI /BW online training schedule…

Currently, we have SD and HR training – SD is on Jan 2nd , HR is yet to be decided, but potentially in the next 2 to 3 weeks. All our training is ONLINE only. not class room based. Currently we don’t have BW training scheduled.

  39. Saleem December 8, 2011 at 9:43 am #

    Hi Siva,

I qualified as a Chemical Engineer, and worked as a process engineer for several years both in the UK and abroad. I then moved into software development and worked as a Lotus Notes developer for seven years. For the last four years I ran my own business, but due to the global meltdown, I was forced to sell up. I am now looking at the possibility of re-training, and SAP appeals to me as an area where there is still scope. However, I am under no illusion that even after qualifying getting a break into SAP is not going to be easy.

Siva, as someone who knows SAP very well, and knows the market place, and given my background, what would be your recommendation for me, in terms of which module(s) to pursue. My inclination is towards CRM.

Also, if I wanted to start the CRM module for example when is the earliest I could start. Does your course also cover certification.

    Many thanks

    Saleem

  48. Hari Kaja November 16, 2011 at 7:26 am #

    Hi Shiva,

I have an 4+ yrs exp in IT industry. I have experienced the roles of Business Analysis – Project Roll Out – Business Development (Pre – Sales) – Account Management. After all great experience in to management side, i want to explore myself in to another dimension for which i choosed SAP – ERP.

My goal of getting in to SAP is to gain real time experience of about 2 – 3 yrs and then get in to SAP – Account Management which is my objective also.

As i am going through the vast opportunities of SAP, i felt interested & inclined towards SD & CRM modules. Even i went across their respective module composition and felt comfortable with the core domain embeded within.

To start with SAP, i want to get trained on SD. For the same, i need guidance & advice from experts like you whether i am in a right way of approach in achieving my goal / objective.

Looking to listen from you soon.

    • siva November 16, 2011 at 8:12 am #

SD is a pretty decent module. I guess, with your good experience in Sales and Business analysis you can go for either SD or CRM. If you are committed to learning the subject, you can make a career in SD very easily. You can even move up the ladder into project management ( tech ) . for SAP Account management however, you don’t need to learn SD only. Any module of SD is fine. Overall, if your immediate objective is to get a job in SAP SD , give yourself a reasonable time frame and dedicate a reasonable number of hours.

On an average, I would say 4 to 8 months to land in a job @ 5 to 7 hours a day of practice. You can’t miss it :)

    Hi Siva,

I am looking for a career change. I have around 8 years of mainframe exp(technical) in insurance domain. Which SAP module will be best suited for me? I had in mind SAP HR. How abt the current market in US? some of my friends adviced me to get into SAP SD. Will it be a good choice with little or no exp. in sales area.

Looking forwrd for you advise. Also let me know the next sap hr online training schedule…

    Regards,
    Vimal

    • siva November 16, 2011 at 6:21 am #

      Vimal
To get into any functional module of SAP, expertise in the respective functional area is not required. Be it SD or CRM or HR. It definitely helps, but not required. The trainer will give you enough background. We have a HR training online scheduled for next week. The next SD Training is Dec 1st.

    Hi Siva,

I am an IT business analyst and would like to move into SAP domain. However, I find myself overwhelmed with the vastness of the SAP field. What would be the best course of action for me to take – in other words, where would you suggest I start my SAP training and what direction can I take considering that I would be new to this field.

    Thanks,
    Meghana

    • siva November 11, 2011 at 9:22 am #

      Meghana
Glad you asked the question and thought abt SAP. SAP is definitely vast – There are more than 50 different sub-systems ( small and big ) and 15 + major industry solutions. But, it is like saying, America has so many states which state should I move in :) .. It just goes to show that you have more choice.

Now, which area to move into depends on your interest. Are you inclined technical or functionally ? If you are inclined technically, what interests you much – coding (ABAP, WebDynpro, BSP…. ), analyst + coding ( BI , BO .. ) , middleware ( XI/PI ) . If you are interested functionally again which area ? – Sales/Service/Marketing ( SD, CRM… ) , Finance ( FICO , ECCS, BCS ) .. etc

Its like choosing from a Buffet.. Choose what you like and stick to it .. you can learn more relevant areas after you get some experience.. there are jobs in every area.

  52. Vishal November 10, 2011 at 7:32 pm #

    Hi Siva,

I have been in the IT industry for over 8 years – java/J2EE field to be precise, with experience in architecting and building high end enterprise applications. I would like to transition to SAP. What would be the best course of action to take on this. Which modules should I focus on that would provide me with a good return on the investment of my time and energy.

    Regards,
    – Vishal

    • siva November 11, 2011 at 10:15 am #

The best ROI for you is to stay where you are – J2EE. After all you go through, there might not be a significant increase in either your billing rates or your salaries. However, given the constraint that you want to move into SAP for sure, I would suggest a technical module like BSP/WebDynpro or middleware like PI.

Wanted to know your thoughts on this. I have some knowledge on security, and I took a course on HR years ago. Knowledge is not fresh at all. I am not very technical nor do I have any module specific knowledge. I have been a sales person for some years but no specialized sales knowledge. i want to stabilize in a productive and well paying module in SAP. Something that I can work with and also make money on, Which do you advice.

    • siva November 4, 2011 at 12:45 pm #

Based on your experience, you can go for HR or SD or Basis Security. This looks like a very obvious answer isn’t it :) JK . Many folks find it hard to understand that the choice of module doesn’t matter – The level of understanding of the subject matters when it comes to getting a job. You can get a job in any module and make money in it – you just need a good guide. For example, there are SD consultants who earn $70/hr and there are SD consultants who earn $120 per hour who can specialize in certain nice areas over a course of time. The same applies to SAP HR as well – Not many people look into niche skills like ESS/MSS and that is certainly a well paying gap with good HR functional knowledge.

So, I suggest you pick a subject, set a reasonable time frame ( 4 to 8 months ) and work hard at it. The job is yours for the taking.

  56. Vishu October 24, 2011 at 2:25 pm #

Hi Siva. I have several years of sales experience in the IT Consulting industry and would like to make a switch to SAP. I have no experience or know nothing about SAP. Recently I started a online SAP SD training course and have finished few classes. I am in a position where I am ‘NOT’ understanding anything. Either the trainer is not able to teach me properly or I am not able to grasp it. I need examples and thats what is missing. There is no real life scenarios explained and its just bookish material that is being explained , repeating whats already written on paper.

What type of training you provide for someone who has no clue or past experience with SAP. If I am making a career switch will I really be able to take the knowledge gained in your training and confidently present myself to new client opportunities in the market.

    Hi Siva,
I am looking to gain SAP SD/MM as I look to further enhance my career in IT. My boss told me SAP SD/MM would be a great way to start for those with no or little experience. Can someone with little or no experience such as myself can understand and eventually be certified?

I currently live in Japan and would like to know if your company offer training in India? I used to work for large IT vendor in India and lived in Hyderabad for over 6 months to receive training of which is no use now, so I am used to India. 63. Meenu October 1, 2011 at 9:56 am #

    Hi Sir,

I have gone through your demo videos, and I feel you are a good trainer.
I am interested in getting trained in SAP but I am not sure which module would be appropriate for me.
I have done MBA in marketing and finanace. I have worked in sales in banking and insurance industry mostly, for little over 2 years. After that I had a gap in career and would like to restart it with SAP training. Could you suggest which module is good for me.
    SD, FICO or CRM.
I have been suggested that doing CRM directly without SD module is not advisable. What is your opinion.
Also would like to know whether you are the trainer for CRM module or someonle else. Who is the trainer for FICO module.

Thanks & keep up the good work.

    • siva October 2, 2011 at 1:08 pm #

You can do CRM without SD , but you will find it very difficult to understand some basics. Also, learning SD gives you a great head start in understanding SAP Sales and CRM just extends on most of the concepts. I am currently not doing CRM Training – working on preparing material etc.
Currently, we are not offering FICO Training

How long after the training do you support them?
Suppose a student find the job six months after the training and need help on the job? Will you support him? If so how long?

    Hi Siva,
I watched your demo video on SAP SD. I am very much impressed with you teaching methodology. You have convinced me that I can join you course without any hesitation. You are the most honest instructor I have come across, who does not do any false promises. I salute your HONESTY.
    I have couple of questions.
    1. in you demo you said that after completing this course, one can be a basic level SAP SD consultant. Do you offer any course where I can be a Intermediate level or expert level SAP SD consultant. ?

    2. Do you cover a class on Documentation. Like what kind of documents are there in REAL life SAP SD environment and What kind of documents are expected from us(SAP SD consultant).
    3. After the completion of the course i.e. say 45 days, how much longer can I have access to the SAP SD system for practicing ?

Thank you very much and Keep up the good work. We need good and honest Instructors like you :-)

    Anand.

    Hi, Siva/Fatima
I have gone through the tutorial video posted from your end on youtube for SAP-SD training and the it seems to be magnificent.Coming to the point i’m planning to enroll myself for the 25th july batch of training from Siemens,India(del).Apart from your course being reasonable what other benefits do you offer us??The training offered from your end is of lesser time as compared to the ones provided by siemens, according to me it is much more illustrative and for a longer duration.I do agree each everything has its own pros n cons. How would you recommend me training from Magna instead of siemens.

    Thanks

    • siva July 19, 2011 at 5:18 am #

      Manik
First off, thanks for the complement.

We are not competing against Siemens or any other authorized training center. Also, we are in no way associated with SAP nor are we an authorized SAP Training/education partner.

That being said, our SAP SD Training course is tailored to give you the basics of SAP SD from the comfort of your own home in a very user friendly and affordable way. That is our USP.

There are some details that I cannot give in the forum and I would be glad to discuss this over the phone. Please call me at +91 95505 01175.

      Looking forward to your call.

      Thanks
      Siva

First off do not go into esoteric modules like SAP SCM ( Which is a new name for SAP APO ). Sure its a nice module to learn for those in demand planning, but finding jobs in them might prove difficult for freshers. There is definitely good demand for APO but nobody is going to take freshers or somebody with minimal experience. In those modules, companies need folks to come and get going immediately.

Having said that, you can go for modules like FICO , CRM or HR – I would say these are the hottest functional modules both in terms of numbers and demand.

I am from australia and interested about sap FICO course.I completed Masters of Professional Accounting and no prior knowledge about the sap but had one year diploma course from NIIT.Could you please tell me about the cost and payment method?
    regards

    • siva July 4, 2011 at 5:36 am #

      Abu
Prior knowledge of SAP is not required. Nor is functional knowledge required. However, if you are interested to make a career, any good training , tons of practice and some mentoring would do.
We do provide sap fico training @ US $ 650 per course which includes sap access for the entire duration of the training. The link for the same is here – http://www.magnatraining.com/sap-fico-training

    Hi Siva,

I completed my first year and need to perform my project/internship for six weeks and ours is a dual specialization with Finance and Systems. I am also interested in getting trained in SAP modules. Would you please suggest me which module suits my specialization. Can you please provide me details like whether you provide any projects on the module we choose so that I need not do any further projects. I am very much interested in doing Finance Projects.

    • siva June 25, 2011 at 4:29 am #

      Venkatesh
First year MBA ? We do not have any projects in SAP FICO. We only have projects in Sales ( SAP SD ).

    • siva June 23, 2011 at 6:35 am #

We provide full fledged SAP FICO Training. Nothing specifically on CO or Product Costing. In other words, we do not provide full fledged 40 hrs of product costing training.

    Hi,

I am a SCM professional (business user) and have used various software application for the procure to pay cycle.I have been an end user for softwares like RUSADA, SAP MM , ARIBA and EMPTORIS (both E-Procurement suite and the Contract Management Suite). Of late I am interested in switching to the technical side and am looking at SAP SRM quite seriously.
    What is your suggestion.

    • siva June 16, 2011 at 12:28 pm #

Thats a good choice. However, my only suggestion is to first learn SAP MM and go to SAP SRM. MM will give you the basics of material master, vendor master, procurement cycle, inventory management and stuff like that. Once you have the basics right, then SRM will be more suitable , since its an advanced module and more of a refinement to the SAP MM P2P cycle.
Nevertheless, learning SRM directly is not bad if you can handle it. With your background, I strongly suggest you go for either MM or SRM. You have a very strong functional background. You will learn sap functional like how the duck takes to water.
Good luck with your training and job search. The market is HOT!!!!!!! HOT!!!!!

  96. Anitha Raja June 13, 2011 at 10:13 pm #

    Hi Siva,

I have sent you an Email with my phone number on it.

I am interested in taking SAP training.
I am a fresher. I completed BE(CSE) and I dont have much idea about the modules in SAP and what will be the role of SAP consultant…

I wanted to do any of these:
    SAP HR
    SAP CRM
    SAP MM
    SAP PP
    SAP SD

So could you suggest me which module to pick up… Which one is doing good in the Job Market…

I want to know how much it will cost to take a module, course duration, and batch dates??

    • siva June 14, 2011 at 5:45 am #

      Anita
Apologize for not being able to reach you in time. Please let me know a good time to reach you and we will call you. Where are located ? I think career advise is best given depending on where you are located. Out of the modules you suggested above, roughly I would recommend the following in that order.
      1. SAP HR
      2. SAP CRM
      3. SAP SD

The duration of each of these course is roughly 40 hours and it will vary slightly depending on the trainer and the course. The price for each of these is $650. We just started a batch in SD today , HR will start late this week. CRM is currently on hold – It might start early next week.

I can give you more relevant information when I call you.
      Thanks

    • siva June 10, 2011 at 5:08 am #

      Geeta
HR has good prospects. Still FICO and HR are the top job grossers in the core SAP modules. Especially in the current market it is very hot. We only have online training Geeta. You can visit the page http://www.magnatraining.com/sap-hr-training to have a look at a sample demo and the course content. etc. You can call us at 1-408-844-4325 to know more about our trainign program

    Hi Siva,

I am in UK, so could you tell me how much would SAP MM or SAP SD cost? $650 converted to pounds is roughly £400, is it the same? and what will be the duration of course?

  100. junior June 7, 2011 at 6:16 am #

    Hello siva,

I have an engineering background with exposure to sales and marketing. Can you suggest any module which can compliment my current job experience. Also, how do I get to practice the SAP interface? Does the 650USD cover the SAP access?

    • siva June 7, 2011 at 10:55 am #

      Junior
Either SAP SD or SAP CRM would suit your situation. We do offer both these courses. You can practice on our SAP System- All you need is a windows or Mac computer. Yes $650 covers SAP Access as well.

  101. Vishnu June 1, 2011 at 5:51 pm #

PLease send me info on SAP MM, my wife is a civil engr. and recelty came to USA, she wants to get into SAP. I was told that since she had a Civil Engr. degree, SAP MM would be good for her. If you feel SAp MM is not and there is another Module she she focus on we are open to it. Please let me know ASAP. Price, and Training Schd.

    • siva June 2, 2011 at 12:10 pm #

      Hi Vishnu
SAP MM is a great choice for someone from Civil Engr background ( Although shopfloor or WM experience is the most preferred ). But think of training from a job perspective also. There are hot modules and then there are not so hot modules. I would say the following are the ever green hot modules ( for the past 4 years )
      1. SAP CRM
      2. SAP HR
      3. SAP FICO
      4. SAP BW
There are other verticals ( Industry solutions like AFS, Retail, IS-U ) that are much hotter, but it is advisable not to go into those areas without basic background on the plain vanilla versions. By this I mean, if you wanted to go to IS-U , you should better become either an SAP SD consultant or an SAP CRM consultant first and then after gaining some experience in it, move on to more specialized solutions.
That being said, SAP MM Training is NOT a bad choice either. There are considerable number of jobs in this hot market and you can definitely get a job if you try harder. All our SAP Training programs are Online, Live-instructor led. They are NOT CBTs or dumb recordings. The price for any sap training module is $650 and the schedule is typically flexible – normally done during the US EST evening timings.
Please register with us at http://www.magnatraining.com/sap-training-registration/ by giving us your phone number and email and one of our associate will get back to you.
Thanks for writing to us and hope I made things a little clear for you.
